SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The subfamily HADENINAE is characterised within the Trifinae (those Noctuids with a weak or vestigial vein M2 in their hindwings) by the possession of hairy eyes. According to Kitching (1984) this subspecies may include three or more 'natural groupings' of related species and may therefore be further divided in the near future.

BELIZE SPECIES
I have taken about half a dozen species of this subfamily in Belize to date, as listed below, but most are in the tricky genus Leucania and are unidentified. Please click on any underlined species name to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes it genitalia) and brief information on the species.
