19(p). Noctuidae: Herminiinae

SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The HERMINIINAE possess various distinct characteristics which suggest to some that they should be a family in their own right. They appear to be a 'natural' grouping of truly related species whose features may include 'fan-shaped' forelegs; prominent and upcurved palps and antennae with central swellings or other unusual features. Most are small to very small in size, very dark in general coloration and delicate in general appearance.

BELIZE SPECIES
I have collected a number of species of this difficult subfamily in Belize; however, as I have not been able to get good identifications to date only two representatives are listed below. Please click on any underlined species name to go to a colour illustration of the adult and brief information on the species.

Palthis sp. indet.
Phlyctaina sp. indet.
