Castrica phalaenoides

DISTRIBUTION: Central & South America.
TYPE LOCALITY: Belize, Guatemala.
BELIZE RECORDS: Augustine; Greenhills; La Milpa; Lamanai.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult illustrated in black and white by Hampson (1901) p. 68, text fig. 51. Adult illustrated in colour by Seitz (1925) pl. 53, figs. b6,7 and by Druce (1897) pl. 74, fig. 13.
NOTES: There is considerable difference in size between males and females although the markings are similar. There does not seem to be any real doubt about the identity of this quite distinctive species.
