Hypercompe leucarctioides

DISTRIBUTION: Mexico and Central America.
TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Lubaantun; Las Cuevas (males); Pook's Hill (female, Barry Fox record).
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: (male) by comparison with Pat Haynes' identified photographs and (female) with the description on p. 370-71 of Hampson (1901).
NOTES: this appears to be one of the more distinctive species within this large and confusing genus. The identification is therefore very probably correct. I had previously incorrectly identified the female of this species as H. brasiliensis - a mistake kindly corrected by Pat Haynes
