DISTRIBUTION: Central & South America.
TYPE LOCALITY: Brazil.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Augustine; Lamanai.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: the adult is illustrated in black and white by Hampson (1901) p. 37, text fig. 30 and in colour by Seitz (1925) pl. 45, fig. h3. The identification was confirmed by Comte Hervé de Toulgoët.
NOTES: this species is quite characteristic and its identification does not appear to be in doubt.
