Neritos leucoplaga
DISTRIBUTION: Central America.
TYPE LOCALITY: French Guyana.
BELIZE RECORDS: Pook's Hill; Greenhills.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult illustrated in colour by Hampson (1920) pl. 45,
fig. 10. This species matches quite closely to specimens from French Guyana in
my collection identified as Neritos leucoplaga by Jeannot Cerda; however, the
abdomen and fore-coxae are considerably more yellow than my own specimens,
which are dark buff-coloured. Other similar species include N. sorex Druce
and N. discophora Hampson.
NOTES: this identification requires confirmation as noted above.
