DISTRIBUTION: Mexico and surrounding countries.
TYPE LOCALITY: Mexico.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Pook's Hill.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated in colour by Seitz (1925) pl. 105, fig. b3 .
NOTES: there appears to be some taxonomic confusion over this species - both the purple and orange forms I illustrate are apparently C. rufinans according to Heppner (1996) and decrescens is a quite separate species.
