DISTRIBUTION: central and south America (in a variety of forms).
TYPE LOCALITY: Venezuela.
BELIZE RECORDS: recorded by Meerman (1999) from Orange Walk, Belize, Cayo, Stann Creek and Toledo districts (ssp. aroma Schaus) and Corozal and Belize districts (ssp. yucatana Lemaire).
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated in colour by Seitz (1925) pl. 102, fig a2., from which the above figure is modified.
