DISTRIBUTION: northern Brazil to Mexico.
TYPE LOCALITY: Panama.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Pook’s Hill; Lamanai.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated in colour by d’Abrera (1986) p. 181.
NOTES: Meerman (1999) notes that the similar species X. loelia has been reported by Welling from Belize and speculates that some of his 'libya' may be this species.
