Aclytia ventralis
DISTRIBUTION: C. America.
TYPE LOCALITY: unknown to me.
BELIZE RECORDS: Augustine.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: Indistinguishable from A. punctata by the upperside
wing markings; however, the tegulae and shoulders of ventralis have orange-red
spots and the forecoxae of ventralis are orange and the ventral surface of the
abdomen is orange except for its extremity. The adult is illustrated in colour
by Druce (1884) pl. 8, fig. 23 and described by Hampson (1898) p. 458.
NOTES: this identification seems to be reliable - the species is quite distinctive.
