Episcepsis phlebitis

DISTRIBUTION: Belize (etc.?).
TYPE LOCALITY: Belize.
BELIZE RECORDS: Maya Beach.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: Forewing apices blue-black; paired spots on vertex orange; fore-coxae with white patches; otherwise matches colour figure of adult in Hampson (1914) plate 13, fig. 2 and by Seitz, plate 28, fig. k8. Several other species of Episcepsis - a large genus - may be expected to be found in Belize. I have a further three specimens of Episcepsis in my collection from Belize which I cannot yet identify.
NOTES: This identification is subject to confirmation by genitalial dissection. This is a difficult genus with many very similar species.
