Episcepsis phlebitis
DISTRIBUTION: Belize (etc.?).
TYPE LOCALITY: Belize.
BELIZE RECORDS: Maya Beach.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: Forewing apices blue-black; paired spots on
vertex orange; fore-coxae with white patches; otherwise matches colour
figure of adult in Hampson (1914) plate 13, fig. 2 and by Seitz, plate
28, fig. k8. Several other species of Episcepsis - a large genus -
may be expected to be found in Belize. I have a further three specimens
of Episcepsis in my collection from Belize which I cannot yet identify.
NOTES: This identification is subject to confirmation by genitalial dissection.
This is a difficult genus with many very similar species.
