Nyridela xanthocera
DISTRIBUTION: Central America; Greater Antilles.
TYPE LOCALITY: unknown to me.
BELIZE RECORDS: Las Cuevas.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: Adult illustrated
in black and white by Hampson (1898) p. 218, text fig. 104.
NOTES: there is some confusion over the correct application of the names N. xanthocera,
N. acroxantha and N. chalciope. Specimens I have from Belize
have bright yellow antennae whereas my Jamaican specimens ascribed to this species have
rather duller yellow antennae.
