DISTRIBUTION: C. & S. America; E. Caribbean.
TYPE LOCALITY: unknown to me.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Augustine.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: by comparison with identified specimens in my collection from the Caribbean. Adult illustrated in black and white by Hampson (1898) page 306, text fig. 138 and in colour by Seitz (1925) plate 16, fig. d7.
NOTES: there are big question marks in my mind about this identification. The red banding on the abdomen of my Belize specimens is missing in my Caribbean specimens. These may be different forms of the same species or two different species,
