Nepheloleuca politia
DISTRIBUTION: C. & S. America; Lesser Antilles.
TYPE LOCALITY: Surinam.
BELIZE RECORDS: Pook’s Hill; Greenhills; La Milpa.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: by comparison with identified specimens in my collection
from the Lesser Antilles.
NOTES: my Belize specimens resemble specimens in my collection from the
Eastern Caribbean identified as N. politia by Claude Herbulot more closely
than they do very similar specimens from Jamaica identified by Dr. Frederick Rindge
of the American Museum of Natural History
as N. complicata Guenee. I am not sure how to distinguish with certainty
between the two species, if indeed they are two separate species.
