Pero polygonaria
DISTRIBUTION: according to Poole (1987) this is one of the commonest and most widespread
tropical American Pero species.
TYPE LOCALITY: 'Tropical America'.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills; Pook’s Hill.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated by Poole (1987) on fig. 170 (adult) and figs.
590 & 989 (genitalia).
NOTES: this species is superficially identical to P. otra Poole,
but the latter species is confined to southern Peru and Bolivia. A third species,
P. arciogona Prout is very similar but appears to be found only in Peru and Brazil.
