Anicla infecta
DISTRIBUTION: North, Central and South America; Antilles.
TYPE LOCALITY: 'Europe' (error for North or South America).
BELIZE RECORDS: Augustine; Greenhills.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: by comparison with specimens in my collection from the
West Indies identified as this species by Bernard Lalanne-Cassou. Adult illustrated
by Covell (1984) plate 19, fig. 16.
NOTES: the larva is
the ‘Green Cutworm’ - a destructive pest of grasses, tobacco and a range of low plants.
