DISTRIBUTION: Central and South America; Antilles.
TYPE LOCALITY: unknown.
BELIZE RECORDS: Pook's Hill.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: by comparison with specimens in my collection from the West Indies identified as this species by Dr. Eugene Munroe of Ottawa. Illustrated in black and white by Amsel (1954) pl. 81, fig. 7.
NOTES: this species was formerly known by its synonym Sparagmia gigantalis Guenee.
