Distribution: Central America; South America; Jamaica; Cuba; Haiti; Trinidad; Grenada.
Type Locality: Surinam.
Synonyms: Ammalo fervidus Walker 1855; Halysidota megapyrrha Walker 1865; Halysidota metapyrrha Rothschild 1910; Halysidota chrysogaster Walker 1865; Ammalo impunctus Grote 1866.

Notes: this species appears to be quite variable throughout its range (assuming it is all one species throughout its range). The illustrated specimen is a Jamaican specimen from Bernard Lalanne-Cassou's collection.
