Distribution: South America and Greater Antilles.
Type locality: unknown to me.
Synonyms: Euchromia tyrrhene Hubner 1827; Cosmosoma voltumna Druce 1897..

Method of identification: identified specimens in the Gowdey collection, I.O.J. Illustrated by Hubner (1827) 3; 23, figs. 483 & 484.
Notes: this species is sexually dimorphic, the male having a red-orange patch on the forewings which the female lacks.
