Distribution: Jamaica, Cuba.
Type locality: unknown to me.
Synonyms: Sphinx steropes Goeze 1780; Glaucopis rubripeda Lucas 1857.

Method of identification: illustrated by Drury (1773) 1; pl. 25, fig. 3 (as 'Glaucopis').
Notes: Tom Turner (pers. comm.) notes that this species "occurs in the mountains from 2,000 feet to 4,000 feet [600 metres to 1200 metres] and is not abundant." .
