Distribution: (cardinale) Brazil (etc.?)
Type locality: Brazil.
Source of record: specimen loaned from Pat Haynes' collection labelled "JAMAICA, St. Anne's, 2-IV-1928, 1200ft, FWJ" (Dr. F.W. Jackson).
Method of identification: cardinale illustrated in colour by Hampson (1898) pl. 8, fig. 16.
Notes: appears not to have been taken by any other recent collector in Jamaica. As Dr. Jackson collected extensively in Trinidad and elsewhere in the Caribbean it is possible that this specimen is from elsewhere.
