Hypercompe nigriplaga

Distribution: Jamaica only.
Type locality: Jamaica.
Synonyms: Ecpantheria obesa Walker 1855.

Method of identification: illustrated in colour by Hampson (1901) pl. 47, fig. 13.
Notes: males are one of the commonest Jamaican tiger moths to come to light (56 specimens in the Institute of Jamaica collection alone!) but I have seen very few females from my collecting or that of others. This appears to be the case for most of the species of this genus.
