Macrosoma stabilinota
Distribution: Honduras to northern Amazonia; Jamaica (?).
Type locality: Fonte Boa, Brazil.
Source of record: Scoble (1990) p. 139 (noted as "probably belonging to
stabilinota").
Method of identification: illustrated in Scoble (1990) figs. 21 & 22 (adult) and
figs. 58, 99 and 103 (genitalia etc.).
Notes: specimens I have photographed on loan from the American Museum of Natural History and
from the Institute of Jamaica appear to agree closely on facies (although I dissected neither specimen)
but appear to differ somewhat from the figures in Scoble (1990). I would not be surprised if the two
species noted from Jamaica as M. rubedinaria and M. stabilonota are in fact both
undescribed species.
