Aellopos clavipes

Distribution: southern USA to Argentina; Jamaica; Cuba; Hispaniola.
Type locality: Mexico.
Synonyms: Sesia eumelas Jordan 1924.
Source of record: Schreiber (1978).
Method of identification: illustrated in colour by d'Abrera (1986) p..
Notes: Cadiou (pers. comm., 1989) wrote "telling tantalus and clavipes apart requires some experience, and even in the B.M. the series are mixed up!". The form from Jamaica is allegedly ssp. eumelas but I do not know how to distinguish this from the typical form.
