Distribution: southern USA to Paraguay; Antilles.
Type locality: Haiti.
Synonyms: Dilophonota festa H. Edwards 1882; Erinnyis pallescens B.P.Clark 1936.

Method of identification: illustrated in colour by d'Abrera (1986) p. 99.
Notes: the subspecies 'pallescens' mentioned by Schreiber as being endemic to Jamaica does not appear to be a sustainable entity.
