Distribution: southern USA to Argentina; Antilles.
Type locality: Surinam.
Source of record: Schreiber (1978).
Method of identification: illustrated in colour by d'Abrera (1986) p. 99.
Notes: this species is remarkably constant in form throughout its massive range.
