Distribution: southern USA; Central and South America; Antilles.
Type locality: Surinam.
Synonyms: Mecoceras bitactaria Hubner 1822; Ametris nitocritaria Hubner 1822; Mecoceras peninsularia Grote 1883; Mecoceras schauseria Edwards 1884.
