Melipotis acontioides

Distribution: tropical and subtropical America.
Type locality: locality unknown.
Synonyms: Melipotis sinualis Harvey 1877.
Source of record: listed by Gowdey (1926) p. 64 (as 'Lyncestis acontioides').
Method of identification: illustrated in black and white by Kimball (1965) pl. 17, fig. 9. Illustrated in black and white by Richards (1939) pl. 1, fig. 7 (adult) and pl.6, fig. 1 (genitalia).
Notes: this is one of the more characteristic Melipotis species.
