Herpetogramma bipunctalis




Distribution: tropical and subtropical America.
Type locality: 'Amer. insulis' (West Indies).
Synonyms: Botys detritalis Guenee 1854; Botys lycialis Walker 1859; Botys philealis Walker 1859; Botys repetitalis Grote 1880; Botys terolalis Moeschler 1881.
Source of record: Gowdey collection, I.O.J. (as 'Psara bipunctata').
Method of identification: my specimens kindly identified by Dr. Eugene Munroe of Ottawa.
Notes: the larva is the 'Southern Beet Webworm', a pest on beet and related plants. There is very probably more than one species under this name.
