Type locality: French Guyana.
Synonyms: Botys cyprealis Walker 1859; Sylepta penumbralis Grote 1877; Hapalia sublutalis Warren 1889; Sylepta fluctuosalis Dyar 1903.
Source of record: Listed by Gowdey (1926) (as 'Sylepta silicalis').
Method of identification: illustrated in black and whiote by Amsel (1956) pl. 91, fig. 8 (adult) and pl. 37, fig. 4 (genitalia).
