DISTRIBUTION: southern USA; Central and South America; Antilles.
TYPE LOCALITY: Surinam.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated in black and white by Amsel (1954) pl. 96, fig. 11.
NOTES: this appears to be a quite distinctive species. The larva is the 'Pickleworm', a pest of gourds, squashes, cucumbers and melons.
