I took my first degree in Zoology in 1982 from Oxford University (Exeter College) during which time I also organised expeditions to Mauritius and The Far East to study moths - my first passion. After further gadding around with moths in central Africa and a period as a research assistant in entomology in Oxford I went to Imperial College, London University, in 1986 to do a Master's degree in Pest and Disease Management (Applied Entomology) where I was awarded a 'Distinction' and the Diploma of Imperial College. A short period in Jamaica working on coffee pests was followed by returning to the UK to study for a Diploma in Tropical Agricultural Development (tropical crops option) at Reading University in 1988. I have been a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society of London since 1981.

Between 1989 and 2014, with frequent returns to the West Indies and central America to study moths (see my website on TROPICAL MOTHS ) I was a professional private biology tutor in Oxford, giving one-to-one tuition in GCSE and A-level and IB biology on all the major UK examination boards, plus the International Baccalaureate.

After 25 years in private biology tuition in Oxford I was widely regarded as Oxford's premier biology tutor, with a wealth of experience in helping young people to pass UK public exams. In March 2013, with the advent of many easy-to-use web conferencing facilities (such as the interactive online whiteboard' Scribblar ) I was able to bring my extensive expertise in biology tuition to anyone nationally or worldwide with a broadband connection.

As a result, in September 2014 I moved to Devon in the UK and switched to 100% online tuition, teaching students worldwide via Skype and Scribblar. I now have an extensive satisfied worldwide clientele online and have taught students throughout the UK as well as in 41 countries worldwide, namely Andorra, Australia, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, China, Cyprus, Dubai, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kuwait, Malaysia, Monaco, New Zealand, Oman, Palestine, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Ras-Al-Khaima, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Sharjah, Singapore, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Thailand, USA, Ukraine and Uzbekistan . My tuition is particularly suited to expatriates and those with an wandering lifestyle such as international sportsmen and women.
