DISTRIBUTION: Canada to Belize (in a variety or races).
TYPE LOCALITY: 'America' (USA).
BELIZE RECORDS: recorded by Welling (as reported in Meerman (1999)) from Cayo district, but this record has not been confirmed.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult and genitalia illustrated in black and white by Lemaire (1973) pl. 36, figs. 5-7 (adult) and figs. 189 and 190 (male and female genitalia).
NOTES: the illustrated specimens are ones from Mississippi, USA, in my collection. This species is highly variable.
