SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The Subfamily HEMILEUCINAE consists of about 600 species confined to the new world tropics.

BELIZE SPECIES
Meerman (1999) lists 22 species of Hemileucinae from Belize in his comprehensive catalogue of species found in Belize to date. With his kind permission I list all of these species here, as well as a species of Gamelia (?) found by myself which is not in his list. Species not in my collection are illustrated from other sources. Please click on any underlined species names to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes its genitalia) where available, and brief information on the species.
