DISTRIBUTION: Chile to New England; Jamaica.
TYPE LOCALITY: 'America'.
BELIZE RECORDS: Pook’s Hill.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: illustrated in colour by d’Abrera (1986) p.29 and
by Hodges (1971) plate 1, fig. 5.
NOTES: the larva feeds on various Verbenaceae and Boraginaceae. This species could be
confused with the related,
and very similar, species M. albiplaga Walker which is also found in Belize
according
to Meerman (1999).
