SPECIES LISTS BY FAMILY
6 (a). Sphingidae: Sphinginae

SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The SPHINGINAE are separated from other hawk moths on the technical grounds of having no sensory hairs on the inner surface of the first segment of the labial palps.

BELIZE SPECIES
Meerman (1999) catalogues 26 species of Sphinginae from Belize, of which I have personally collected only 12. All species are listed here with the kind permission of Jan Meerman and those which I do not have are illustrated from elsewhere - please click on any underlined species names to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes its genitalia) and brief information on the species.
