Oospila depressa
DISTRIBUTION: Guatemala to Peru. Cook & Scoble (1995) list Belize as a locality.
TYPE LOCALITY: Costa Rica.
BELIZE RECORDS: Pook’s Hill.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult and genitalia illustrated by Cook & Scoble
(1995) pl. 1, fig. 20 and figs. 72 (adult) and 143 and 197 (male and female
genitalia).
NOTES: this species is quite similar to O. ruptimacula Warren, but
according to Cook & Scoble (1995) O. ruptimacula has dark irrorations
in the centre of the pale blotches on fore- and hind-wing, and my
specimen does not. Genitalial dissection would resolve the issue as
the genitalia are quite distinct.
