DISTRIBUTION: S. & C. America.
TYPE LOCALITY: (species) Brazil; (subspecies aganapla) Mexico.
BELIZE RECORDS: Greenhills.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult illustrated by Seitz (1925) plate 5, fig. e2.
NOTES: I have not been at all critical in this determination; there are a number of similar species to this one but, pending a revision of this genus, this is the best I can do at present. Scoble (1999) notes subspecies aganapla Dyar 1913 from Misantla in Mexico.
