SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The 'Waves' (STERRHINAE) are almost all small to very small species (10-15 mm in wingspan),
often with characteristic patterns of shingled 'waves' radiating out
from wing-base to apex.
BELIZE SPECIES
Of all the subfamilies of Geometridae the Sterrhinae
are probably the least well-studied and consequently although I have
collected 19 species from Belize to date I have only been
able to identify or partially identify 13 species, as listed below, with any degree of
confidence. Please
click on any underlined species names to go to a colour
illustration of the adult
(and sometimes its genitalia) and brief information on
the species.
