Synclera chlorophasma
Distribution: New World tropics.
Type locality: Jamaica.
Synonyms: Samea praelatalis Moeschler 1886.
E. Caribbean records: St. Martin; St. Kitt's; Guadeloupe; Dominica; St. Lucia;
Grenada.
Grenadines records: Bequia, Canouan, Mayero, Union, Palm,
Petite Martinique (E.U. Exp., No. 13).
Method of identification: I am not sure which features distinguish
this from S. traducalis Zeller, which is the Old World tropical species.
Illustrated in black and white by Amsel (1956) pl. 82, fig. 2 (adult)
and pl. 30, fig. 5 (genitalia).
Notes: according to Munroe in Heppner (1995) this is a good species,
separate from Synclera traducalis.
