SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The subfamily CHRYSAUGINAE are considered to be a 'natural' group of truly related species.
The maxillary palps of Chrysaugines are vestigial and the males of several species possess noise-making
apparatus in the wings. Heppner (1995) lists 382 named species in this subfamily from the Neotropics.
