SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The CUCULLIINAE are a mainly temperate subfamily with some representatives in the the tropics. The subfmaily is allegedly defined by the possession of 'lashed' eyes; it is probably a polyphyletic grouping of many unrelated species of similar external appearance.
