Distribution: tropical America.
Type locality: Brazil.
Synonyms: Anerastia ignobilis Butler 1878; Pempelia diffissella Zeller 1881.
Source of record: Jamaica is Type Locality of Anerastia ignobilis.
Method of identification: Illustrated in black and white by Amsel (1956) pl. 30, fig. 7 (adult) and pl. 7, fig. 3 (genitalia). Adult also illustrated in black and white by Kimball (1965) pl. 26, fig. 26.
Notes: the larva is a pod pest of peas and beans.
