Distribution: southern USA and Antilles.
Type locality: 'England' (West Indies).
Synonyms: Pyralis fascialis Haworth 1803; Botys thalialis Walker 1859; Anthophila perviana Walker 1865; Pyralis gelidalis Walker 1866; Thelcteria costaemaculalis Snellen 1887.

Method of identification: by comparison with identified speimens in my collection from the West Indies identified as this species by comparison with specimens in the Musée d'Histoire Naturelle, Paris.
