SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
the subfamily SCOPARIINAE is a small subfamily whose members often have a small tuft of scales on the forewing. The larvae, unusually, feed on mosses and other 'primitive' non-vascular plants. Heppner (1995) catalogues just over 60 named species in this subfamily from the Neotropics.

JAMAICAN SPECIES
I catalogue only one species of this subfamily from Jamaica (the record for 'Scoparia imparilis' is deleted as the Type Locality is in fact Madeira). Click on any underlined species name to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes its genitalia) and brief information on the species.

The genus Scoparia
  • Scoparia atricuprea Hampson 1917
