DISTRIBUTION: Central & South America.
TYPE LOCALITY: Peru.
NICARAGUA RECORDS: Bartola.
METHOD OF IDENTIFICATION: adult illustrated in colour by Seitz (1925) pl. 52, fig. g6 and by Rothschild (1909) in Novitates Zoologicae 16 pl. 6, fig. 37.
NOTES: this identification appears to be reasonably certain, although the Type Locality gives rise to some doubt. With such a number of very similar species a generic revision is probably necessary to be certain.
