SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The ACONTIINAE are a loosely-defined group of probably unrelated
Quadrifinae (ie those Noctuids with a well-developed hindwing vein M2) which reach their
greatest
diversity in the tropics. They are mostly small or very small species with a
robust appearance.
