SPECIES LISTS BY FAMILY
10. Apatelodidae

| BACK TO LIST OF MOTH FAMILIES |

The Apatelodidae are a small family of about 250 species which, with the exception of a handful of species found in North America, are found only in the New World tropics. The family has not been the subject of any major illustrated revisions in recent years; however, many of the then-known species are illustrated by Seitz (1925), which permits approximate identifications and some distribution information. All of the currently-known neotropical species in this family have been catalogued by Becker (in Heppner, 1996), which provides modern generic placement.

I have found twelve species to date in Belize, of which I have been able provisionally to identify or partially identify ten, as listed below - please click on any underlined species names to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes its genitalia) and brief information on the species.
