SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
The LARENTIINAE are quite small species (usually about 20-25 mm in wingspan) often with characteristic zig-zag patterns radiating outwards from base to apex of both wings. Colours tend to be subdued fuscous greys, yellows and browns and it is often difficult to distinguish similar species on external appearance.

BELIZE SPECIES
Although I have collected over a dozen species from Belize to date I have only been able to identify about half of them, as listed below, with any degree of confidence. Please click on any underlined species names to go to a colour illustration of the adult (and sometimes its genitalia) and brief information on the species.
