SUBFAMILY DESCRIPTION
the subfamily GALLERIINAE consist of a small number of 'primitive'-looking species whose
larvae feed on a wide range of strange materials such as wax from bee honeycombs and various
dried plant matter as well as being pests on such crops as various palms and sugarcane
(Holloway et al., 1987). Heppner (1995) lists 58 named species in this subfamily from the Neotropics.
